ARTUR JASTRZÄBSKI
THE GREAT WATER IN PAPROCANY

Artur JastrzÄbski The Great Water in Paprocany
The photographs of Artur JastrzÄbski, taken at the “Paprocany” Recreation Centre on Lake Paprocany in Tychy should not be seen as a unified story. It is easier to read them as individual shots – surreal images; afterimages torn from sleep. I feel torn between peace and anxiety. The water that pours out of the troughs may have a destructive power, but here it purifies the composition of facets and details. The author gives us the pure form of black and white composition. He invites us to the absolute peace and quiet of transcendental meditation.
On the other hand, the topics he has chosen intrigue us with their mystery and magic, such as: an open gate absolutely not inviting us to pass through; a bench where we won’t sit down to rest; and surfboards we won’t use.
