Three, two, one and... off we go with the exhibition Madeleine Sante at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow (MOCAK). At 18:00 the grand opening is scheduled for this new prestigious Krakow exhibition space – a contemporary art gallery built totally from scratch. The place has a rich history, as it has been established in the grounds of the former Schindler Factory (ul. Lipowa 4). From the outside, the building is modest and elegant, and its modern and austere interior is the perfect backdrop for multifarious contemporary art exhibitions.
The Photomonth exhibition is the final scene in this year's Alias. The titular heroine – Madeleine Sante – is a fictitious figure as are her six biographies. They have only one item in common... her date and place of birth. The rest is, on the one hand, an exercise for the viewer’s imagination and on the other a reflection on the relationship between human destiny and origins, historical background and the warp and weft of events.
