videopunkt is a New Media Workshop. It’s an academic group set up at the ĹódĹş National Film School in summer 2008 by students who create video. Currently, the group numbers 27 people from the National Film School in ĹódĹş, the Academy of Fine Arts in ĹodĹş, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and London’s University of Westminster. Ewa Ciechanowska and Adam Stefaniak, who are associated with the group, will be our guests today in Pauza. The conversation, about things seen and unseen, will be accompanied by a screening of experimental films by the videoâ (videopunkt) group.
“We're a co-operative of artists where, instead of artistic uniformity, we’re linked by something much more important – a desire to redefine the reality we live and work in. In calling attention to our artistic presence, we not only use “old” or classic situations – at festivals or galleries – but we are also actively seeking new ways for the visual arts to function. To create these new situations we will be using the unrecognised capabilities of the new media, and the potential of spaces – both closed and open, public.”
Fans of new media and experimental film are welcome to join us today at 7 pm in Klub Pauza.
Further information about the group can be found at www.videopunkt.org
And all day Sunday you are welcome to an open day at the International Cultural Centre.
