PHOTOMONTH IN KRAKOW — 2011 Photomonth_kropki_duze

SITTCOMM.AWARD 2011 Photomonth_kropki_duze

Photomonth in Krakow and sittcomm.sk invites you to participate in international competition for professional photographers from Eastern and Central Europe.

sittcomm.award is one of the most important prizes for photograpers from Eastern and Central Europe. It is an amazing opportunity for artists working and born in those territories to be noticed.

The idea of the competition was initiated by Roman Babjak and Lucia Nimcova in 2006. Roman is a freelance curator and editor, active in photography, music and the arts. „I felt there was no relevant support for independent artists using photography in Central and Eastern Europe”, he says. The competition targets professionals, and the criteria doesn’t change over the years. „It is quite broad ... but for my part, I am looking for an original idea (also if the idea is suitable for the photographic medium), and a second criteria would be an authentic formal way of expressing the idea”, says Babjak.

The sittcomm.award competition Jury, comprising Mira Keratova, Anna Theiss, Zuzana Flaskova, and Roman Babjak have decided upon four finalists.

The sittcomm.award competition finalists for 2011 are Marcin Bociński, Maros Krivy, Rafał Milach and Petr Willert. Of these, one will be selected as the winner, and the result will be announced in May during Photomonth in Kraków. Photomonth will also include an exhibition of the winner’s works and a slide show of the finalists’ works.
