Neville Lister, b. 1962, Johannesburg, studied at the University of the Witwatersrand 1981–3. Moved to London and worked as a commercial photographer. Returned to South Africa in 1994. Exhibitions include Public][Private, Switch Box Gallery, Johannesburg, 2008, and his Thresholder series, portraits of people with their letterboxes, at the Pollak Gallery, Johannesburg, 2009. His latest work involves a cache of undelivered letters that belonged to a Dr Pinheiro, a Mozambican doctor who sought refuge in South Africa in 1975.
