PHOTOMONTH IN KRAKOW — 2011 Photomonth_kropki_duze

DIY BOOK! Photomonth_kropki_duze

Photomonth in Kraków, the Atropos Gallery and the Academy of Photography present workshops aimed at people interested in creating their own photobooks and learning the process of producing photo publications. Over the course of four days, the participants (max. 8 people) will work on their own photo material under the guidance of experts who will help them gain essential knowledge on each stage of preparing the publication, from selecting and editing photos, through processing and preparation, design and typography, to printing and binding techniques.

The participants will be able to apply their newly-gained theory to practice by working on the design of their books. At the end of the workshops interested participants will be able to finalise the process and produce a printed and bound publication.

The workshops will last 4–5 hours over 4 consecutive afternoons. They will be preceded by an open lecture by Artur Wabik (16.05.2011, 18:00), introducing the topic of self-publishing.

SELF-PUBLISHING WORKSHOPS

Day 1:  Editing

How do you select material; how do you build a narrative through photography; how do you edit photos and translate them into books? Andrzej Kramarz will attempt to answer these questions during the first workshop. Under his guidance participants will work on their own material to create a consistent story from individual photos.
