Zuza Krajewska discusses clichés with Dawid Misiorny
Zuza Krajewska: Why does no one in your pictures look the viewer in the eye?
Dawid Misiorny: I almost never ask people for their consent. I like to capture my vision of beauty in them, and when they look at me they always want to present theirs. People take care of their image. I like to penetrate this visual intimacy, create my own narrative, show what’s attractive for me. Do you sometimes look people in the heart? Photography doesn’t create the truth, it just imitates reality and shows selected extracts from it. In my case it’s completely different: I’m not scared to look people in the eye, you remember?
