The “border state” establishes the limit of durability of a construction, separating safe from unsafe states. Exceeding it means danger for the whole structure, and as a result danger to human life. Following this concept makes the design process considerably easier, in particular for materials behaving in a non-linear fashion. For me, these photographs are about a certain limit state, a cleansing, but at the same time a constant suspension in emotions. The culmination of these comes during sleep, which for a few hours cuts you off from reality, safeguarding you from overload.
Martyna Rudnicka (born 1987, Warsaw)
A student of photography at the Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in ĹódĹş, and a graduate of the Poland.doc cross-media seminars for young artists and budding culture animators organised by the Association of Creative Initiatives “Ä”. She organises photographic workshops, and her niche in photography lies somewhere between document and creation, experimenting with form.
