MOVING STORIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY
MOVING STORIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY (Silence please!)
Magdalena Kownacka, GaweĹ Kownacki / F.A.I.T.
This odd construction in the middle of the room is the F.A.I.T. film studio. In it, we record interviews with photographers and photography theoreticians, in order to use the “oral history” method in an effort to construct the history of photography in Poland. We ask about their biographies, inspirations, the personalities who shaped them as artists, and the theories that fascinated them. In order to create the right conditions for the recordings, during the interviews the studio remains closed to the public, as shown by a red light on one of the walls. For the rest of the time the interior of the studio can be accessed by visitors.
Inside is a screen on which the recorded interviews can be seen. An up-to-date schedule of recordings can be seen on the board by the entrance to the studio. The recorded interviews will form the basis of the development of the Archive of Oral History of Photography in Poland, organised by the Foundation for Visual Arts in collaboration with F.A.I.T.
