REMAKE. THE PAINTER AND THE PHOTOGRAPHER – A MEETING WITH POLA DWURNIK AND TADEUSZ ROLKE
The photographic project Remake by Tadeusz Rolke and Pola Dwurnik refers to a session in 1984, when Rolke photographed Kora Jackowska in the studio of Pola’s father, Edward Dwurnik. This time the scene is Pola’s painting studio, and a multi-level game of roles and references is conducted with her own images. Remake is a performance in which the artist "uses" her work for a second time, subversively switching their meanings or putting them in parentheses, allowing the photographer to use them to create a new reality.
The Remake series has now become one of the most important trends in Tadeusz Rolke’s photographic work – portraits of visual artists. Over the past 50 years, Rolke has photographed Alina Szapocznikow, Henryk StaĹźewski, Edward KrasiĹski, Joseph Beuys, Leon Tarasewicz, PaweĹ Althamer, Monika Sosnowska, Marcin Maciejowski, and many others. Pola Dwurnik is the youngest artist on this list.
