Jerzy Lewczyński. Memory of the Image is an album devoted to the art of one of Poland’s greatest photographers. The work of Jerzy Lewczyński has thus far been the subject of one monograph. The current publisher attempts to show the photographer’s work not as a linear, chronological sequence, but as a system of themes that have been with him throughout his life, appearing from his earliest years until the present day. The selection of images is based on photographs that are perfectly well-known, but worth remembering in other contexts, and photographs newly extracted from the artist’s archive. Lovers of Lewczyński’s work will discover many surprises.
