VISIONARY HOURS & LIGHTS DIM

VISIONARY HOURS

Hayden Berry, the artist behind Visionary Hours, creates his mainly instrumental music combining a wide range of acoustic instruments, both traditional and modern. Focusing on the sound of strings, as well as his instruments of choice (guitar, voice and clarinet) he creates slowly evolving ambient/neoclassical pieces, full of space and gently revealed micro melodies.

VH's first album, This Too Will Pass, released in 2008, is an intriguing collection of songs built upon the layered sounds of guitar, strings and organs. This composing technique has been refined and perfected on The Road to Bashō, the second release by Visionary Hours, an album inspired by the famous Japanese wandering poet, Matsuo Bashō, and released on Preserved Sound records in 2011. Its melodic themes have been further developed and narrated with full length visuals by Marek Kamiński (Lights Dim), with whom Hayden Berry currently performs the entire Road to Bashō live.

LIGHTS DIM

Lights Dim is the solo project of Marek Kamiński, better known as a member of the post-rock ensemble, New Century Classics. LD's sound consists of acoustic instruments such as piano and guitar, blended with computer generated soundscapes, as well as sound samples and field recordings. The outcome of this combination is quite minimal in its form, bearing resemblance to ambient and neoclassical music. Kamiński's music is also about creating sound arrangements by combining samples and recordings initially deprived of significant musical qualities.

So far, Lights Dim has recorded a solo album titled Starlit Corners of our Homes, released independently in 2010. The album received numerous positive reviews (The Silent Ballet, We Are From Poland, Magnetoffon.info), and triggered positive feedback from its listeners. Currently, Kamiński is working simultaneously on three new releases; a second album, an EP with Hidekazu Imashige, a sound artist from Japan known as Gallery Six, and a collection of collaborations with befriended artists.
