PHOTOMONTH IN KRAKOW — 2010
PHOTOGRAPHY ACADEMY WORKSHOPS
SPONTANEOUS PHOTOGRAPHY
These workshops combine photography with practice. Participants will join a lecture introducing them to theoretical issues, combined with a slide show, after which – equipped with OLYMPUS PEN cameras – they will take their own photographs outside the Photography Academy headquarters. The culmination of the workshops will be a selection of the finest works produced, and the composition of triptychs from among them.
In the spontaneous photography workshops, every participant has equal chances: everyone takes photographs at the same time, and the subjects for the works are drawn from a hat.
The aim of the workshop is to inspire creativity and develop a spontaneous approach to photography.

NUDE WORKSHOPS
Instructor: WacĹaw Wantuch
Nude Workshops with photographer WacĹaw Wantuch. The first part of the workshops, introducing participants to the subject of the photographic nude, will be supplemented by a film showing the work of the photographer and the model. This allows the artist to show behind the scenes of his work day, his method of setting up the lights, his conversations with the model. After the screening, there will be a conversation with the participants about nude photography. The second part of the workshops will involve digital processing of photographs previously prepared by WacĹaw Wantuch. The problems discussed will focus on practical issues, such as retouching skin and hair, the tone of the photograph, etc.
For photo processing the workshop participants will use the Wacom tablet.

COLOUR PROFILES, PREPARING PHOTOGRAPHS FOR PRINTING
Instructor: Marek Dziedzic
ICC PROFILES
A workshop allowing participants to create their own digital print laboratories, relieving them of having to hand their photographs over to other – and not always competent – hands. The aim of the workshop is to learn the monitor and printer calibration so that, afterwards, participants will be able to manage the colour of their work independently.
The main issues of the workshop:
1. The basic models of colour spaces and the differences between them
2. How electronic devices see colour
3. Teaching your monitor to "see the right colours" and to tell you what your photographs really look like
4. Choosing a monitor for the photograph edition
5. How to print what we see on the monitor
6. Why we need icc profiles, and what they are
7. How to choose a printer for photographs (colour and b&w)
8. Is the paper really important in the printing?
9. The process of creating an icc profile for printers and paper
10. Showing your work, and responding to participants’ questions
